Ashley has been dancing since she was 3 years old and has experience in various types of dance such as Tap, Ballet, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Lyrical, Irish Stepping, Clogging, and most recently Modern-Style dance. She will receive a BA in Dance specializing in choreography and performance from Keene State College in May of 2024.
In 2024, she created an original work, "Enigma" and has been in many performances while enrolled at Keene State College. Ashley has had the opportunity to work with choreographers such as Cynthia McLaughlin, Molly Fletcher-Lynch, Tatiana Desardouin, Lauren Cox, and Andrea Tracy.
By being able to work with such a variety of people, she has been able to expand her knowledge and be able to apply the different styles to one another to create choreography that holds its own space in the room.
Throughout her journey in dance, she embodies a profound curiosity about the unknown and the potential outcomes of various choices and experiences. Initially fixated on physical feats like physical perfection, her curiosity has since matured into a quest for meaningful movement and expression. Choreographing devoid of intention or emotion feels hollow to her; for her, dance must convey something deeper, resonating with both the creator and the audience.
Across the span of her life, a multitude of influences have shaped her artistry, from the natural world's phenomena like water cascading over rocks to the vibrant dance community she immerses herself in at college. These varied experiences have not only imparted different styles and techniques but also underscored the importance of authenticity and self-discovery in her artistic journey.
Dance has served as both a source of empowerment and a mirror for self-reflection, enabling her to grow and comprehend herself better. Her art transcends mere entertainment; it's a vehicle for connection and impact, eliciting emotional responses from those who encounter it. Through her work, she endeavors to articulate the ineffable and leave an indelible mark on both herself and the world around her.
